Incident

Deputy Ervid Clemons was shot and killed on Folz Boulevard by a man with a history of mental illness. As officers planned a SWAT team entry into the suspect's home the man rushed out and opened fire, striking Deputy Clemons. The suspect was shot and killed by other officers. Deputy Clemons had served with the agency for 23 years.

He was survived by his wife and two adult children.
