Incident

Deputy Evans was shot and killed when he responded to a disturbance at the local train station. He encountered two men attempting to force a woman to board a train with them. When Deputy Evans ordered the men to stop one of them opened fire, fatally wounding him.

Deputy Evans had been with the agency for two years.

Your heroism and service is honored today, the 103rd anniversary of your death. Your memory lives and you continue to inspire. Thank you for your service. My cherished son Larry Lasater was a fellow police officer murdered in the line of duty on April 24, 2005 while serving as a Pittsburg, CA police officer.
