Incident
Patrolman Earl Anderson was killed in an automobile crash at the intersection of Columbia Place and State Street while he and his partner responded to a call involving a man brandishing a gun. Patrolman Anderson was ejected from the vehicle when it was struck by another car and pushed into a bus. Patrolman Anderson had served with the East St. Louis Police Department for five years.

He was survived by his wife and son.
