Incident

Officer Douglas Gates was shot and killed after a pursuit of a stolen car. When the stolen car crashed, Officer Gates approached to arrest the driver when he was shot and killed. The suspect was convicted of murder and executed. Officer Gates' brother, Officer Jack Gates, had been shot and killed in the line of duty on March 23rd, 1930, while also serving with the Oklahoma City Police Department.
