Biography

Donovan was born on January 2, 1993 — the first baby born that year in Clark County. He graduated from Charlestown High School in 2011 and went on to attend St. Catherine College in Springfield, Kentucky, where he played baseball on a scholarship and graduated in 2015. Following college, Donnie managed several fitness centers and later oversaw batting facilities in Ohio and Kentucky. He found joy in coaching and mentoring young men on travel baseball teams, sharing his love of the sport and shaping lives both on and off the field. In 2022, Donnie discovered his true calling in public service when he joined the Scott County Sheriff’s Office as a Patrolman. After graduating from the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Class #229 in Plainfield, Indiana, in 2023, he quickly rose to the role of Detective. As a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, he helped take down several individuals who preyed on the vulnerable. His passion for law enforcement grew into a defining part of who he was. The respect and admiration of his colleagues were evident in their testimonies, which spoke to his dedication, leadership, and mentorship. Tragically, Donnie also bore witness to more than anyone should in his short time on the job. Outside of his service, Donnie’s passions were many. He loved the game of baseball, both as a player and as a fan, cheering faithfully for the Milwaukee Brewers, Jacksonville Jaguars, and the Duke Blue Devils. An avid outdoorsman, he spent countless hours hunting, fishing, and hiking, often accompanied by his loyal companion, Duke. Donnie will be desperately missed by all who knew and loved him — his family, friends, colleagues, and the community he served with pride.
