Incident

Deputy Sheriff Don Reimann suffered a fatal heart attack while pursuing a motorcycle on County Road 50 near Hamburg. When Deputy Reimann attempted to pull over a speeder, the driver would not stop. Around 8:48 p.m., he radioed for backup and continued to pursue the driver. During the chase, Deputy Reimann's vehicle veered off the road and went into a field. Responding officers found him slumped behind the wheel at 8:55 p.m., six miles from where he attempted to pull over the driver. The person he was chasing was apprehended a short time later and charged with several counts stemming from the chase, but was not charged with Deputy Reimann's death.
