Incident

Shot dead by a terrorist assassination squad in Little Strand Street, Dublin, after being pursued down Ormond Quay into Capel Street, after travelling from Tipperary to identify a body.

The following month, November 1920, Sergeant Roche’s nephew, Constable Jeremiah O’Leary, was killed in a terrorist ambush and a further eighteen months later, in May 1922, another nephew, Constable Timothy O’Leary, was abducted and shot dead.
