Biography

Christopher Gayle served eight years with the United States Navy as a Boatswains Mate 2nd Class (E-5) and Surface Warfare Specialist before joining the New York City Department of Correction. He began his DOC career at the George R. Vierno Center and rose to an assignment in the Investigations Division. He was a proud member of the DOC Ceremonial Unit and was extremely well-liked and respected by everyone who worked alongside him. He was 42 years old with, as his colleagues noted, a bright future ahead of him.
