Incident

Patrolman Charles McGuire was shot and killed from ambush while on patrol. He had stopped at Engine House No. 8, at the intersection of Division Street and Indiana Avenue, after making a report when two men came inside and told him there were two suspicious people outside. He was shot multiple times as he opened the door to check on the suspicious men. Patrolman McGuire was a U.S. Army veteran and served with the Toledo Police Department for one year. He was single at the time of his death.
