Incident

Officer Charles Greenwald was shot and killed and another officer was shot and wounded after a man who set off a metal detector at Mobile Government Plaza pulled out a gun and started firing. The man shot Officer Greenwald, killing him. The suspect was shot and killed by a Mobile city police officer and another Mobile Court police officer. Officer Greenwald had served in law enforcement for over 10 years.

Survivors

He was survived by his wife and two young sons.
