Incident
Officer Carlton Byrd was killed when his police motorcycle was struck by a car at the intersection of Granby Street and Thole Street. He was responding to an emergency fire alarm at the time of the crash. Officer Byrd was a WWII veteran.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife, four daughters, son, and seven siblings.
