Incident
City Marshal Cameron Coffin was shot and killed in a tailor shop on South Main Street by a man when he ordered him to leave town.
The suspect, a desperate character who continuously caused trouble, was shot and killed minutes later by an angry mob of citizens.
Marshal Coffin had only served with the Jennings Police Department for one month.
Thank you for your service and please know that no passage of time will ever erase your sacrifice. Rest in peace always.
