Incident

Patrolman Audie Isbell was killed in an automobile crash on Highway 45 in Walker County while pursuing another vehicle. A third vehicle attempted to turn left onto Highway 45, causing Patrolman Isbell's vehicle to collide with it. Patrolman Isbell and the driver of the third vehicle were both killed in the collision. The vehicle he was pursuing continued to flee. Patrolman Isbell was a veteran of WWII who had served with the Texas Highway Patrol for seven years and was stationed in Trinity.

Survivors

He was survived by his wife and four children.
