Andrew Robert Rusbarsky
Incident
Sergeant Andy Rusbarsky succumbed to injuries sustained on August 29th, 1954, when he was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of William Penn Highway and Center Road.
He and another officer were directing traffic at the intersection when he was struck and thrown over 200 feet. He suffered a fractured skull, broken shoulder, and a broken leg that eventually had to be amputated. He underwent over 50 surgeries following the crash as his health continued to deteriorate. He died as a result of the complications on October 29th, 1968.
Sergeant Rusbarsky was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII and had served with the Monroeville Borough Police Department for 17 years.
Survivors
He was survived by his wife and daughter.
