Biography

Aaron Follmer moved from Big Lake, Minnesota to Aberdeen, South Dakota in 2013 to begin his law enforcement career. Before joining the Aberdeen Police Department full time on July 15, 2013, he had served as a reserve officer with the Big Lake Police Department, rising to sergeant. In his three years with Aberdeen PD, Aaron became a certified drug recognition expert, organized the Shop with a Cop program for disadvantaged families, and was integral to the training of APD Explorer recruits. He received a Lifesaving Award from the city commission in 2014 after administering CPR to a woman who survived because of his fast response. He was 24 years old.
