בן פרחה וסאלח. פריד נולד בכפר הדרוזי אבו סנאן בשנת 1945. היה בן למשפחה של בנאים מקצועיים. את שירותו הצבאי עשה פריד בחיל רגלים בשנים 1964 עד 1966. פריד הקים בית בכפרו, נשא לאישה את כוכב והיה אביהם של אשרף, מהדי, הנא, פרחה, סאוסן, אלפת והאלה. פריד התגייס לשירות בתי הסוהר בחודש אוקטובר 1980. הוא שירת בתפקידי ביטחון שונים בבית הסוהר "תל מונד" ("השרון") במשך כל תקופת עבודתו בשב"ס, עד יומו האחרון - היה קצין משמרת בדרגת כלאי. הוא נודע בתור סוהר מעולה, אחראי ומסור לתפקידו. פריד ענד את אות הוותק. ביום רביעי 10.8.1983 נפטר כלאי פריד לאחר מחלה קשה. בן שלושים ושמונה בנפלו. הותיר אחריו אישה ושבעה ילדים.
