בת רחל ואברהם. יונה נולדה בישראל בכ"ה באלול תש"ה (3.9.1945). יונה התגייסה למשטרת ישראל ב-25.8.1963 והוצבה במחוז תל אביב במרחב דן. בב' באלול תשכ"ה (29.8.1965) נזעקה יונה ללכוד רוצח חמוש ברחוב ביאליק ברמת גן. חרף הסכנה הממשית היא דלקה אחריו. כשהצליחה להדביקו הסתובב הוא, וירה בה למוות. על מעשה זה – על אומץ לבה ועל גבורתה, הוענק לשוטרת יונה העיטור הגבוה ביותר במשטרת ישראל, עיטור הגבורה. יונה נפלה בעת מילוי תפקידה. בת עשרים הייתה בנפלה. היא נטמנה בחלקה הצבאית בבית העלמין בקריית שאול, תל אביב. כמחווה על גבורתה ועל אישיותה האמיצה של יונה קראה עיריית רמת גן רחוב על שמה – רחוב השוטרת.
