Incident
Patrolman Clarence Maines was shot and killed after arresting for being drunk in public.
After making the arrest, Patrolman Maines was walking the man to jail when the suspect pulled out a small handgun and shot him in the side. Patrolman Maines succumbed to his wound two days later.
The suspect was apprehended and convicted of Patrolman Maines' murder. He was subsequently sentenced to life in prison.
Patrolman Maines had served with the Bristol Police Department for 5 years.
